Love All.. Love Bob!
We had an absolute BLAST!! Bob is da man! His knowledge across all things San Francisco – culturally, societally, politically and historically – was unparalleled. Oh the places you will go! He took us everywhere, including a nudist rally in The Castro district Loved every minute of it… DO NOT MISS THIS TOUR!

Really enjoyable tour with Bob
We booked this last minute – seconds before we were just about to book the hop-on-hop-off bus (so glad we switched after reading about the Love Bus tour on Time Out)
We met at the location and started the tour promptly with Bob – who was both informative and charismatic. We learnt so much and saw so many areas of the city, we planned our next few days around the areas we wanted to explore more.
The one thing i would say is that it’s maybe San Fran is a tad romanticised on the tour – Bobexplained the city has no crime – having walked through Tenderloin to see discarded needles and having heard the car-break-in crime rates are some of the highest in the country, we weren’t under any illusion this was a city void of risk! But living in London, that’s not something that put us off – more an observation of the commentary!
I would recommend this as a way to start anyone’s first say in the city – you’ll get your bearings and see some amazing places you could have previously walked right by

Tour Guide Bob Made This the Highlight of Our San Francisco Trip
Review of: San Francisco Love Tour
I wrote a fantastic review that Trip Advisor did not save so now I’m not happy. It disappeared. But I’m not too pissed to not come back and leave a review for this tour. The tour – and Bob – make this review a labor of love.
There is every concieveable method of touring imaginable available in San Francisco: bikes, Segways, Double decker buses, single deckers, vans etc. But there is only one tour that can go everywhere (like the Presidio where the NO TOUR BUS sign greets all upon entering) but does it in a 1960’s VW Bus covered in Tie Dye Art straight out of Haight Asbury Days, with shag carpeting, classic rock on the radio and cruising through town as Bob worked the stick shift and layed down some serious knowledge in a fun, unforgetable method. Everywhere we went in the bus people took our photo.
Bob looked the part with his long hair and serious San Fran street cred after moving here 25 years ago. The tour hits all the high points, and you learn everything you need to know. Bob is part historian, part stand-up comic, part city ambassador and part conspiracy theorist (which he will show you as part of the tour).
So…if you want to learn about Alma, The Emperor, Jolting Joe and Marilyn, The Secret Bunker, where Janis Joplin lived, all that makes each neighborhood special and what makes this city unlike any other in the world…get going and ride the Love Tour…preferably with Bob although he trained all the other guides so you’ll be in great hands.
Two thumbs up, way up!

Review of: San Francisco Love Tour
You know despite the driving rains we had on our tour day, this was the still a great way to see San Francisco. This cute little bus wheeled us up and down streets that we would not have been able to see in a big bus. Highlight was being down under the Golden Gate bridge. Thanks Bob for giving a a great tour, with lots of laughs.Reviewed June 25, 2018 via mobile
Bob (Baarb) was great!
The very best way to see the ‘streets of San Francisco’, in this quirky vehicle. Everyone wants to take a photo and do peace signs to you!
For Bob the driver, as promised. The reference to ‘Manchester England, England’ derives from the fact the character involved is actually from the NYC hud – reminded so by his friends – but claims to be English. It seems he is reinforcing his point by stating ‘England, England!!!’
QED?
Thanks again!

A MUST do tour!
Review of: San Francisco Private Love Tour
I booked 4 buses six months in advance as we had a large group visiting San Fran via cruise ship. The booking was over the phone with Allen super nice and helpful.
This is the best way to see a lot of San Francisco when you have a short visit. All four drivers narrated the ride with fun facts and history. We did the private tour which was four hours. The four buses arrived at the cruise port and picked us up and caravanned together all around San Francisco. We stopped for photos several times and the drivers would gather all of us together and take photos. The driver of my bus was Bob he was super fun and was full of San Fran facts and info. The report back from the others on the trip was unanimous – BEST THING WE DID on the entire cruise….. THIS IS A MUST DO WHEN IN SAN FRANCISCO………..

Tons of fun! Go early during your trip
Review of: San Francisco Love Tour
This was a great tour. I highly recommend it and recommend people do this early on in their trip as there are many good tips and tricks for you to employ. Bob is clearly passionate about San Francisco and this tour and it comes through in his work. He pointed out that this vehicle is able to go places others cannot due to its smaller size. Besides it’s cool to tour this town in a VW hippie van decked out with orange shag carpeting! We learned lots of interesting things about SF, their many parties, unique neighborhoods and all the “tax dollars at work”. Tons of good recommendations including Tony’s Pizza where we went straight after the tour!

Fun and informative-get the real tour of SF!
Bob was our tour guide, enthusiastic, informative and very proud of his beautiful city. He engaged us with the city’s history with “Alma” (you have to take the tour to find out), showed us all of the neighborhoods with an insider’s view and showed us places we would not have gone on our own. The rain didn’t dampen our tour at all, though we didn’t get out at the usual scenic spots. There were only four of us on this tour (though unfortunately, the couple behind us talked constantly while Bob was giving his tour)

Review of: San Francisco Love Tour
Great semi-private tour (4 on our tour) and Bob narrates beautifully with “tax dollars spent” and history of the area. You’ll have spots for photo-ops and drive-thrus of local areas the big bus tours can’t get thru, and the Presidio is gorgeous. Start and end at Fisherman’s Wharf–so easy to get to with the trolley cars. We took the morning tour and it left the afternoon open for walk-arounds.

Fun Time!
Review of: San Francisco Love Tour
My husband and I had tried to take this tour in October, but the bus broke down, so we were excited to finally do the tour on a beautiful, sunny day in January. Bob was our driver/tour guide, and he was fun! He introduced us to a lot of neighborhoods that other tour companies with bigger tour buses just can’t drive through. I’m eager to explore some of those neighborhoods on our next visit. We also learned a lot of the history of each area as we drove through it. Bob was so enthusiastic about his city, and that was catching. Aside from some of the neighborhoods, I am eager to revisit the Presidio and Golden Gate Park. It was just plain fun being in the love bus driving the streets of San Francisco and interacting with just 5 other people

Great guide! Great ride!
Review of: San Francisco Love Tour
Bob gave us a terrific overview of San Francisco! In just 2 hours, we got just what we wanted — a “tasting menu”, so we could get a basic sense for the various neighborhoods/parts of town and then decide where we wanted to go back to spend more time. The van was a hoot (and we were glad the radio wasn’t working for our tour, as it made it easier to HEAR what Bob was saying!!) and it’s small enough to get onto many streets that the big tour buses are forbidden to drive on. Bob is clearly passionate about San Francisco (it was contagious!) and has worked hard to learn a lot about the city history that made his tour especially interesting and worthwhile. Highly recommend this!!
My only suggestion is to make sure the guide speaks up and/or consider adding some kind of audio system. One of people in our group was in the 3rd seat (right over the engine). It was a bit smelly back there and even her youthful ears had trouble catching everything Bob said. That was too bad, since he was so great!

These guys were great. Firstly, I prebooked several weeks ahead then managed, despite some clear pre-tour comms from them, to get the day wrong. They were really, really good about it and got us onto another tour later in the week; lucky for us they had a bit of availability. I was very grateful for their flexibility!
We had Bob as our driver and guide, who we believe is the owner of the business and works mornings. He was great. Super entertaining and incredibly passionate and enthusiastic about the city. By the time we did the tour we had been in the city 4 days but actually all 3 of us agreed we were quite pleased we did the tour at the end as he took us to interesting and slightly off the beaten track places that we would not have visited anyway including some great spots with fantastic views over the city and over the GG Bridge. This was such a great tour – much more personal than straining to hear a microphone on a tour coach of 40 people (which we would never have booked anyway). We highly recommend this tour. Great little business doing a fantastic job of providing a unique and personal experience of SF.

This tour is great for those who want a small number tour that can take you places the big tour buses can’t go. As the van seats only 6, the tour can take you places that exclude the buses of 8 seats or more. My wife and I have been living in San Francisco the past few years and decided to go out for a touristy experience. We saw great reviews for SF Love Tour and are so glad we chose this tour for a Saturday afternoon with Hippie Bob. Bob took us around the city (in the awesome, retro 70s VW van that let’s be honest is a huge asset to this tour) and gave us a lot of great information about the history, landmarks, fun facts and urban legends.
The best part of Bob’s tour, though, was that he really showed off the wonderful characteristics and experiences that make living in San Francisco so magical. His tour is great for tourists and residents alike to either explore the city for the first time or have a quick reminder of great gems spread around.

Coolest Tour in SF! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Review of: San Francisco Love Tour
We took this tour on Day 3 with two days left of our family vacation.. We should’ve done it on Day 1! Bob was absolutely amazing! Extremely knowledgeable, very funny, super witty, and of course cool and hip! I’m guessing what Bob doesn’t know about SF probably isn’t worth knowing. He took us through many of the SF districts the average tourist would never see, let alone know about. Places like Haight-Ashbury, Castro, Twin Peaks, China Town, Presidio, to name a few.. Bob’s insight into what’s made SF the great place it is today, and what makes it tick from day to day will give you a huge appetite to explore further and many places to revisit before you leave SF. When we come back in the future, we’ll be requesting Bob again for sure so we can add more layers to the SF knowledge base he’s already built for us. His stories and the way he tells them are nothing short of excellent!

Fun Overview
We were on a cruise and wanted to make the most of our time. Bob gave us a great overview, very friendly and chatty. We did a private tour and made it ours, even did a quick detour to Sausalito. Bob took us to several great view points and had suggestions for things to do afterwards. He was waiting outside the port for us, everything was easy and we certainly feel we had a great taste of SF in character of a a groovy VW that the kids loved!

A real trip man!!
Just a lot of fun. Bob was our driver/guide. We were picked up in a true ‘73 VW bus painted like the love bugs from that era. He was playing period music and truly gave you that hippie vibe. He took us through each district of San Francisco and told us all kinds of interesting facts and stories about what we were seeing. We stopped for pics of Golden Gate. A couple more pic stops would have been nice. Everyone we interacted with were professional and helpful. Overall a great way to see San Francisco in a short period of time. Not a chance to explore but it’s not that kind of tour. Good job, thx Bob!!

Best City Tour I’ve Ever Been On
Review of: San Francisco Love Tour
Our guide was Bob, who was fantastic. So knowledgeable, with plenty of humour. His enthusiasm for the city and it’s culture really sold San Francisco as the most ideal place to live (if you could afford it!). We travelled round all the major sights, and some of the lesser visited neighbourhoods, all the while keeping us thoroughly entertained and involved.
I can’t recommend this tour highly enough; easily the best city tour I’ve ever been on, and worth every penny of the incredibly reasonable price. I encourage anyone who reads this to book and take this tour early on in your stay in SF, as you will inevitably change your plans to go back to some of the places you’ll see on this tour.

The best & most fun way to see San Francisco.
Touring through the USA together, I wanted to show my friend, a first time visitor to the USA, my favorite city of all, San Francisco. We had only one full day to spend and I was concerned about the logistics in getting to see everything, and also, to get a feel for the city.
San Francisco Love Tours, private tour, was absolutely the best and most fun tour I’ve been on. I’m really not a person for “touristy” gatherings, attractions and crowded tours, but it is sometimes a necessity to see the sights in order to get a feel for the city. The private tour with San Francisco Love Tours gave us a real, off-the-beaten-track visit to the city. Bob, our guide, was fun and so informative, and he gave us a perspective to the city that I had never seen before.
By no means do I qualify as a hippie, but it was super fun and adventurous to be one for a few hours around the city. We loved our private tour, and I can highly recommend San Francisco Love Tours as a fun way to see the city and avoid all the clique tourist traps

If your in San Francisco I would definitely recommend doing the “Love Tour”. Our driver Bob was a wealth of knowledge about San Francisco and its history and generally a lovely guy. Apart from bringing back childhood memories of when mum & dad had a combie van, it was the fun of riding around in a decked out (with shag pile carpet) van. As we were in a smaller vechile, they can take you to places that the big bus companies can’t. We even got to go down Lombard Street in the van, such fun. Great photo opportunities as well. As the combie van doesn’t have many seats, you can hear everything the driver says and you also get to meet some amazing people that share your experience. I would definitely recommend the tour, 2 hours of fun, facts and memories. Enjoy

Awesome!
Bob and ‘good job’ rhymes, which is clearly no coincidence! My family (wife and three teenage daughters) had an amazing experience on the love bus with Bob, who took us competently through the city both when it came to showing us somewhat off the beaten track spots (watching surfers under the Golden Gate bridge), telling us very witty and insightful San Francisco stories, making small detours to give us as great an experience as possible. Last but not least the driving was really impressive on the steep slopes of San F. This tour really opened our eyes to this beautiful and inspiring city in a new way. Thank you! Only wish we’d done it earlier on our trip, but all the input we were provided with makes us want to come back 🙂
One wish for non-native English speakers – sometimes Bob got so engaged that the pace got a little fast and the words not so easy to grasp even for me who speaks English in my work. But then again – you live and you learn 🙂

And so it was, as Bob treated us to well more than 2 hours of history, insight, dining recommendations (best pizza, best Thai), nostalgia, and Plans A, B, C & D for just hanging out for free concerts in the parks. The decorated van, with the stick shift and trying to make it up the very steep hills was interesting, but in a fun way. We booked the 2 pm tour today. Our guide was Bob. 5 star! He was AWESOME! We feel so fortunate he was our tour guide. I do not know how the other guides are, they may be just as good, and I hope they would be, but if there is a way to request a driver, ask for him. In depth knowledge of the area as a resident in SF on and off for many years. The bus was so cool because it only takes 6 people, and in San Francisco, if you look at street signs many prohibit tour buses seating more than 8, so the big buses cannot go where we went today. We are have visited SF multiple times since 1978, and have been to many attractions, but today we saw the neighborhoods like we never have before, and learned so much even about areas we had visited before. Also so fun that so many people reacted with photos and smiles as the decorated VW bus passed by. One of our best experiences in SF ever Thank you Bob!

Awesome and entertaining!
High expectations were far exceeded!! Basically a semi-private historic tour of the city, with a focus on the elements that made the 1967 Summer of Love so impactful. Even on a foggy day it was visually enjoyable and very enlightening as well as entertaining. Our guide Bobdid a great job showing and sharing unique historic facts about the city. While the focus was on the 1960’s movement, the tour was much more well-rounded to where even if you could care less about the 60’s or what went on out here then, you would still love the tour and probably want to go again!
Being in a VW bus allowed us to weave through LOTS of areas that regular tour groups just would not be able to go. I HIGHLY recommend this very informative and enjoyable experience!!!
