BS ‘n’ About…

Alohas, au Revoirs, & Hasta La Vistas

If you’ve made it this far, I thank you. Hopefully, you’ve taken something from the experience that you can use in your day-to-day life. Hopefully I haven’t terrified you too much. But if I haven’t, I probably didn’t get my message across.

Most of the issues addressed in here are going to have to be dealt with in one way or another, sooner rather than later. The longer we wait, the harder it’ll be. Issues that might very well threaten the survival of our species are way too important for us to just turn the page on them. There are too many unanswered questions. There are too many lies, contradictions, and hypocrisies.

The math just doesn’t add up for a lot of this stuff. But two facts are indisputable: The Earth is a finite place and we breed and evolve exponentially. If you disagree with everything else I’ve written, this alone ought to scare the crap out of you. If we don’t regain control of Spaceship Earth, God, Mother Nature, and the Four Horsemen are going to step in and make our adjustments for us, a grim prospect indeed.

So where do we go from here? Since this work was long on questions and short on answers, I guess that is something we’ll have to work on together. In my heart I feel that it begins with putting down the headsets, turning off the screens, and getting to know our neighbors again. …live in communities again. We can’t afford to lose touch with the building blocks that have brought us so far. We need to slow down, re-think some of the big issues, and move forward with a plan. We need to take the necessary steps to ensure the very survival of our species before we go storming into an uncertain future.

We, the People need to become part of the process again, not as spin-doctored members of this or that constituency, but as individual citizen-patriots of the most visionary constitutional democracy yet founded by man. If we organize to create a government, economy, and society that reflect the lofty principles of our Founding Fathers, not to mention our parents and ancestors, America has the power, reach, and influence to bring peace to our world once and for all. We are probably the Earth’s only hope of avoiding that day when the math doesn’t add up.

And as for You, our Leaders? You need to become better people, better providers for us, better caretakers of our future. Dare to show some vision. Do things for the right reason for a change. Unite us in common cause and we’ll build a Tomorrow beyond your wildest imagination. Respect us. Teach us. Nurture us. Put us to good work.

History bottlenecks through America here at the beginning of the 21st Century. The future will largely be what we make it. The decisions we make in our lifetime will affect everything humanity will ever achieve or become. That is a heavy responsibility.

Until given reason to think otherwise, I’m going to keep on waking up believing that working toward peace and stability is the only thing that makes any sense. …the only thing with any lasting value. So I’m going to keep on writing, speaking, and doing whatever I can in my own little way. I know it won’t work unless it is something we all want. I know it won’t work without a lot of sacrifice and hard work between here and there. But it sure beats the heck out of all the alternatives. And besides, I can’t think of anything better to do.

The vast majority of us want to live in peace. I know we do. You know we do. We just have to figure out how to get there from here. So do what you can. Think things through. Get involved. Dare to question everything. See ya down the road. Until then…

Sincerely yours,

Bob Smith
